i've got a big book full of prints by the japanese painter and printmaker hiroshige. they amaze me. every single one of them. i could look at them for hours. my attempt was never going to be a hiroshige but i enjoyed it all the same.

dream

i had a beautiful dream last night. it stayed with me all day and made me feel warm and happy. i've never had a dream quite like it.

if we had more information we'd be able to better judge the consequences of our actions. but if we knew what the out come would be would we ever make that first step? would we ever walk along the path if we knew exactly what was waiting for us when we reached our destination?

monday, monday

monday's suck! i needed something to grab me today. something slightly pointless to sink my teeth in to. you know what i like? i like the way a deranged darkness can easily weave its way through a variety of cutesy. an uneasy blend of ultra cute with a subtle touch of darkness and sometimes a pinch of kink!

it's been a little while since i did anything cute. i haven't had a cute fix for a little while. it's all better now... meet peg and fluff! they're pretty cute.

vroooommmm

i've had a very exciting but very expensive week! i bought a car. that's about the most exciting thing that's happened to me... ever! i had a tense saturday of decisions and against my initial ideas i took a gamble, luckily for me it paid off. the mechanic said my car is a 'smasher' (that's a good smasher not a bad smasher). a few little things to get fixed and i'll be zooming about in no time. it's still a shock and all happened in a blur. i've spent 10 years getting round to organising driving lessons and within 10 weeks i own my very first car! making up for lost time i guess. i do still need my license of course but in the meantime i have a little 'smasher' with L plates to practice in.

sometimes something gets under your skin. it lodges itself in your mind. no matter how hard you try to ignore it it just keeps popping back in. today i've decided that perhaps, if you've got something you really can't get out of your head, it's just meant to be there.

i got about a bit this weekend and took some pictures. i played around with a few like i usually do and the results are now blogged. one of them is of a building in a small town called whitehaven on the cumbrian coast and the other is of some lights... err in a pub! that's nice isn't it? isn't it?

in a list of america's greatest contributions to the world the car bumper sticker would have to have it's place. it might even be at the top. not happy just to have an opinion they seem to believe it should be slapped on the back of your car and held there for the world to see with self adhesive! as my mind is turning to cars and driving more and more lately it'd just be rude not to come up with a few ideas for my own bumper sticker. wouldn't it?

today is a good day

today is a good day. infact it's a very good day. a very, very good day. for one it's friday and i love fridays. for two i have a cup of tea in my hand... it's a little on the sweet side but it's tea all the same. i'm also going to the o2 wireless festival tomorrow so i get to enjoy a day of good music. a whole day of it.

3 day weekend

a week that starts on a tuesday. i'd love it if all weeks started on a tuesday and if all weekends were 3 days long. wouldn't that be lovely?

...again! i made a sunny picture in the hope that it helps me pretend that the world is a bright and yellow place! this is quite a lot like the donovan picture but i don't really care! so there!

big and fat

for those of you who know me you know that i have an obsession. a big fat obsession, with japan. i eat japanese food, i cook japanese food (quite badly!), i watch japanese films, listen to japanese music, read books about japanese cultures and take inspiration from japanese design. i haven't been to japan yet but i dwell there in my dreams.

i've gone all 70s recently. maybe it's donovan's 60th birthday that influenced me or maybe i'm just a bit of a throw back! either way it's happened and i'm not sure there is anything i can do but go with it. so here's a bit of 70s inspired closeyourfly. no flares or fro required.

(that was such a good title i used it twice!) it's the day before my 28th, how exciting. the best thing about still being 27 is that of my group of girl friends i'm the youngest. i'm the youngest by 2 whole days which means today all 4 of them are 28 and i'm still just a wee 27 and will be until 9.25am 05.05.06.

the sun was out again at the weekend. i love this time of year. all the birds are busy singing and the blossom is out on the trees. there was a bit of wind on sunday in ilkley and the street was covered in cherry blossom snow

a return to glamour

there are lots of good things about the place where i work. i'm sure most of them are not out of the ordinary and would feature in most peoples 'things i like about work' list but not everyone can say that they can go to work and see the beauty and splendour of a 70s pink porn bathroom! it's not used as much as it was, back in it's day, in fact i think the only life it sees on a day to day basis now are spiders and the odd silver-fish. it is looking a little bit sorry for itself but underneath the limescale and cracked tiles is a bathroom with pure glamour. you just don't see enough gold taps these days. as i heard that glamour is the new black i thought it only right that i include a blog about the joy a porn bathroom can bring. so here it is! may it bring you joy!

birthday

it's my little sister's birthday today. yey! i bought her an ipod and now i'm dedicating this whole blog to her. what a fantismo sister i am. just look at her, doesn't she look like she's having a lovely time? he he! happy birthday vic. luff ya! xx

prom, prom, prom

i couldn't spend a day of my easter bank holiday in morecambe without taking a few photographs. inspired by the colours and the general feel of the place i set about turning some of my images into the perfect morecambe blog. more than most other places morecambe holds many of my childhood memories. i was pleased to see the prom full of people. all of them doing exactly as i was, enjoying the sunshine, the wind coming off the sea and having a good old british day at the seaside.
